Danger At The Watering Hole
If you’ve read through most of this website, you’re probably not surprised to
learn that living with a Norwich Terrier means there is going to be a certain amount
of humorous acts performed by your Norwich each day. This isn’t intentional – it’s
just part of their quirkiness – it’s who they are. Sometimes there is a new quirk that
just seems to spring up. For example, Nigel has developed what appears to be a
cautious approach to the water bowl. He approaches the bowl slowly and as he
does so, he takes a look around – to the side and behind. He steps a little closer and
looks around cautiously again. He lowers his head just slightly, giving the surrounding
landscape (my kitchen) one last furtive glance and begins to drink. I can’t imagine
why he takes this stance since to the best of my knowledge he has never been
attacked at the water bowl. Neither Mike nor I have attacked him and Divot pleads
innocent on the matter as well. I can only conclude that he is imagining himself at
a dangerous watering hole with a mix of both predator and prey with he, Nigel
The Brave being the only one bold enough to drink! When he’s finished, all need
for caution is gone as he, with dripping muzzle and a hearty belch continues on
his way exploring the wilds of our home.
